I recently posted about the opportunity for professional athletes to leave the “plantation system” that is currently practiced by all the major professional sports leagues. Today, a handful of white billionaires literally own the leagues, the teams, and the players. Sound familiar?

How is it possible that the players — mostly Black men — deliver 99% of the value, yet they have almost no ownership? Sounds unjust, racist, and poorly designed. How hard would it be for the 1,500 men who are players in the NFL to rebel…
